Visit the boyhood home of Hoover Company founder located on original Hoover family farmland. Located inside Hoover Park, the Hoover Historical Center preserves and shares the history of The Hoover Company beginning with family history in a primitive 1840s building that served as the original home for young William H. Hoover. Later known as "Boss" Hoover for the local business he built that rippled beyond local borders to become known around the globe. The family's Victorian farmhouse chronicles Hoover history as the leader in floor care beginning with the first 1908 Hoover electric vacuum through 2008. Vintage products, advertising, materials Hoover produced for WW II is included in displays along with hands-on experiences throughout include a replica 1910 manual sweeper, singing the Hoover song, a vacuum that floats on air and a hand-held unit that sticks to a portable wall with its suction power. Victorian décor and ladies fashions complement Hoover history displays.Souvenirs available. Award-winning herb gardens enhance the grounds June- October. Partially handicapped accessible.
