Only 2 hours from Bogotá to the south, there is a coffee plantation, Coloma Farm that awakes the Colombians and foreigners daily with invigorating aromas.
At Santa Coloma coffee plantation you will discover the coffee process, from its seeding, through its milling and until its packing. The tour begins with the coffee plant seed and then crosses a fully grown plantation of Arabica shade-grown coffee, where among beautiful orchids you will see the many kinds of coffee plants available in Colombia. The most traditional and time-consuming processes, extracting, then washing, drying and hand picking the beans, take place at the beneficiadero. At the Sun or machine-dried, you will learn how to do the thresh of the outer shell of the coffee beans with your own hands. Lastly, you will see the final and critical step that determines the coffee quality: the roasting, a slow process that gives coffee its characteristic color, aroma and taste. A warm cup of coffee will be waiting for you at the end of the tour.
After the Coffee Plantation Tour we will visit the orchid plantation of Doña Berta and appreciate all the color, smells, shapes and sizes of the national flower of Colombia.
And to finish this incredible tour you will have a delicious typical lunch in the cozy town of Chinauta, to get to know all the flavour, colors, smells and textures of the Colombian food.
