At Skye Luxury Tours we offer more than merely sightseeing trips. We understand this may be your only opportunity to visit Skye and we are driven by a passion to share our incredible island with you. We want you to leave the Isle of Skye feeling that you have experienced the scenery, the local culture, the stories and the tastes of the island in a wonderful and memorable way.
Skye Luxury Tours has combined our local knowledge, gleaned from growing up on the Isle of Skye, with a long background in Highland tourism. We have managed to cram an incredible Skye tour into a single, unforgettable day! As you look through the suggested Skye Highlights Tour itinerary (below) you will no doubt recognise the names of many well-known scenic locations, some of which are very hard to reach without the help of a local guide. On top of the wonderful destinations and attractions listed below you will also enjoy (hopefully!) Stuart’s story-telling. At the end of your day you will leave with a much greater understanding of Skye’s people, history, culture, myths & legends and with a longing to come back to explore further all that the island has to offer!
(*Please note: The following is a suggested itinerary - please let us know if you would like it altered as we strive to tailor each tour to give each group the best possible experience. TIMINGS ARE FLEXIBLE.)
DEPARTURE: You will be collected and returned to your accommodation anywhere in the Skye & Lochalsh area in one of our luxury vehicles. Collection from further afield can also be arranged.
Skye’s ‘capital city’, the beautiful fishing port village of Portree. You may want to have a browse of some of the lovely tourist shops Portree has to offer.
THE OLD MAN OF STORR & KILT ROCK VIEWPOINTS
Our tour stops for some incredible photo opportunities offering views of the Cuillin Hills, the west coast of the Scottish mainland, the Isle of Rona and the famous ‘Old Man of Storr’, also giving you time to enjoy the spectacular Kilt Rock viewpoint.
Staffin lies at the foot of the Quiraing and has become increasingly popular in recent years due to its status as the best place in Great Britain for finding dinosaur footprints! We stop off here for a bathroom break before taking the mountain-pass road over the Quiraing itself.
The Quiraing is, for many people, the most captivating and stunning viewpoint on the island. Words cannot suitably describe the scene from the top (which can, thankfully, be reached by car) – so rather than try, we will simply leave you to discover it for yourself when you tour with us!
During the tour you will hear some of the Isle of Skye’s local stories, myths and legends of fairies (and monsters!), passed down from generation to generation. As you visit the Fairy Glen you will begin to realise why such stories abound amongst the islanders.
Where did the ‘magical’ fairy flag really come from? Why is this quaint old humpback bridge of such interest to people? Hear the roots of the Fairy Bridge story whilst at the ancient bridge.
Surrounded by beautiful formal gardens and packed with historical artifacts, no trip to the Isle of Skye is complete without a visit to Dunvegan Castle. As well as housing the famous Fairy Flag the castle is still home to the current chief of the Macleod clan. (*Please Note: The admission fee to the castle is not included in the price of your tour.)
Talisker is currently the only single malt whisky distillery on the Isle of Skye. A stop here allows time to explore the distillery visitor display and excellent shop before we make our way home. Tours can be arranged as long as these are requested well in advance.
